Incra MITER3000SE Miter Gauge with 27-Inch-49-Inch Telescoping Fence & Flip Shop Stop

Product Description

Continuing its well respected tradition of "making accuracy easy", INCRA® has added the MITER3000™ Incremental Miter Gauge to compliment its incredibly popular MITER2000™. This model features INCRA's exclusive AngleLOCK™ Indexed Positioning that locks in miter fence angles in remarkably accurate and repeatable 5 degree, 1 degree of 1/2 degree increments over a range of up to 180 degrees, with continuous adjustability in between. It uses INCRA's patent pending solid steel GlideLOCK™ Miter Bar, that uses up to eight expansion points to adjust both sides of the bar for zero side play with anti-friction travel in any standard (or near standard) miter slot. This means that all of that accuracy in the AngleLOCK™ Miter Head can actually be put to use because the bar won't wiggle in the slot. The result? You get perfect, gap-free hairline glue joints on all mitered corners without trial and error setups. If that sounds too good to be true, just remember INCRA's motto: EXACTLY AS PROMISED! And they mean it!

Costumer Reviews

Miter comes almost completely assembled. Set-up was easy, though the ruler on top does not make much sense. Might have to stop by a wood show and have them explain the logic on this. The quality is top notch, though a bit heavy. When cutting big pieces, it can be a handful when the extension arm is off the front of the table. Sometimes you might need a third hand in this case. I have a Jet cabinet saw, and can't think that my table is that much smaller than the Delta's or other saws out there. Might be better if I had purchased the sled with it, but maybe down the road. I do like it for it's quick and accurate settings to any degree. I would recommend trying one out first before you buy one, but it is a great miter. Shop around, as I saved about fifty dollars at Amazon for a new, and not used miter.

I believe that this is the best gauge out there. The index spots engage without any slop and the gauge is easily adjustable to square with the blade. The system is easy to use including the stop block and extension system. Highly recommended.

Costumer Reviews

I just love well made fine tuned tools - and this is one of them. I've used the sled for several projects since I purchased it and find it very accurate and easy to set up. I recently made some cabinet doors and it made a huge difference in how everything fit together. I was using a Dewalt 12" sliding miter to cut the rails and stiles. Being off just 1/32 is very noticable and the miter saw just doesn't align so easily. The sled arrives set up for installion on the left side of the blade, which makes the measurement gauges incorrect for use on the right side of the blade. A quick call to Incra and they sent inserts for right side operation. The only thing I don't like is the allen wrench screws for the miter gauge fence. When cutting double end 45's it's necessary to adjust the fence to clear the blade. It's a real pain having to keep track of the allen wrench. Thumb screws/wing nut type fastners would have been a better choice. I like the way it is easily removed to allow for cutting large material. Big Leroy's was very helpful and explained the differences between the Incra 5000 and the Incra Express.

I am doing my kitchen with mitered door frames and drawer frames. This sled, paired with my Incra 100SE are fantastic, and provide dead on miters. If you already own a good miter (Incra Preferred) get this sled, but if you are purchasing with the Incra miter gauge included, go for the Miter5000, as the sled is larger in area, and the included 3000 gauge is a fantastic combo.

Only downside on this design, is the sled is the exact same color as the so popular Freud coated blades, and that makes it difficult to see the blade for safety's sake. I solved it by putting some yellow mylar adhesive tape along the slot to provide contrast with the red blade. Not an issue if you stay away from the coated blades.

Costumer Reviews

The miter express sled is all that I expected. It works well with the Incra miter gauge as well as an older Rockler model. The setup is straight forward and it allows you to cut pieces, especially smaller pieces safely, which is what I needed.

The gauge has very good accuracy across the horizontal plane. Repeatability is excellent. Once it is setup and adjusted, it stayed locked in the whole time. My complaint is that the mounting bracket between the fence and the protractor was not square. The vertical angle of the fence was set back about 2 to 3 degrees. If you cut flat against the bottom portion of the fence or only make straight cuts, there are no problems. Now, if you cut at any angle other than 0 degrees and use the full height of the fence, the cut will not be straight. The higher the protractor angle, the bigger the problem.

The instructions tell you how to shim the gauge to get it perpendicular to the table, but it's not as easy as it sounds. Since the bracket's vertical angle is not consistent across the face, you need multiple shims of different values on either side of the bracket. I contacted Incra support and they quickly replaced the original bracket with one that was better, but still not at 90 degrees. I ended up taking the bracket to a local machine shop and they milled it to a perfect 90 degrees across its entire length. Now it works like I expected for a fence from this highly regarded manufacturer. At the price they charge for this miter gauge and fence, I shouldn't have to spend an additional $30 to have it brought into proper alignment.

I use this unit on a Bosch 4000 jobsite saw. I believe that for the money, and the size, you can't beat this unit. Any other sled and gauge combination would be too large for a jobsite saw; however, this unit is perfectly sized for it.

The setup and calibration will take you approximately 45 minutes. For the bosch, it was a bit confusing since the tilt on the saw is opposite to how the unit is setup (although they include some instruction on how to flip that).

I am rating it at 4 stars because of one flaw that I find to be foolish. Every adjustment on the unit is made via an allen wrench screwdriver that is included, except for the non-moving part of the sled. It requires a tiny allen wrench to remove the unit from your saw table top (something I do every time as my saw travels from job to job). I wish the allen wrench screws would have been sized the same as the screw driver included, so that way it would only require one tool to adjust or remove the unit.

For repeatable cuts -- the crosscut sled (once calibrated) with the shop stops cannot be beat. It's simple to just churn out cut after cut with precision repeatability.

For the cabinet maker or finish carpenter who plans to use the unit at the jobsite, I completely recommend it. If you have a cabinet saw, or larger saw, I'd recommend going with a larger unit so that you can utilize more real estate.

INCRA M5000RRPANEL Miter 5000 Replacement Panel

Product Description

From the Manufacturer

Use this panel as a replacement for the “drop panel” that’s cut during the initial setup of the Miter 5000. The drop panel can easily be replaced when installing the Miter 5000 on a different saw or switching the sled to the opposite side of the blade. The replacement panels can be swapped quickly enough that you might want to keep extras on hand to use as an “insert system” for the area around the blade - cut an extra one for a different-kerf blade, a frequently used blade tilt angle, or cut one extra wide to allow clearance for a wide dado set.

  • The renewable right panel provides zero-clearance tear-out control and cut-off support on both sides of the blade

Incra MITER5000 Miter 5000 Table Saw Miter Gauge with Sled and Telescoping Fence

Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

The Miter 5000 Table Saw Miter Gauge blends the incremental angle control features of the Miter 3000SE with a very special 3-panel Sled for the ultimate miter cutting workstation for the table saw. The sled with two aluminum T-tracks and clamping fixture secures the work piece as one solid unit for precision cross-cutting at any angle. The tracks are embedded in the MDF panel top to secure an included work piece hold-down clamp and to provide absolute rigid support for the 36- to 64-inch telescoping IncraLOCK Cuto-off Fence.

The right-hand portion of the sled, once cut, secures to the right miter slot of your table saw by means of a miter slider and functions as a zero clearance cut-off table that's perfectly aligned with the main sled. Since this system includes precision angle adjustment, stop positioner and clamping sled for superior work piece control, all possibility for cutting error has been eliminated and each cut is predictable and precise. Also featured with every Miter 5000 is a simple and incredibly useful hold down clamp which locks your work piece onto the sled for maximum accuracy and the cleanest cuts possible.

Ten expansion disks adjust both sides of the bar for zero side play, anti-friction travel on all table saws with standard 3/4-by-3/8-inch or near-standard miter gauge channels, including Delta, Craftsman, and imports. This means that all of Incra's incredible precision will actually show up in your work because the bar won't wiggle around in the miter slot. Also included are Special Edition Miter Fence telescopes from 18- to a full 31-foot length. The dual flip shop stop and Incra's patented automatic positioning control also come standard with this model. AngleLOCK Indexing Precision angle indexing teeth are laser cut in solid steel to lock in 364 positive angle stops in 1/2-degree increments over a full 180-degree range. Interlocking grooves in the fence and stop ensure even the sharp edge of mitered work will not push behind the stop. The fence locking bracket creates a monolithic rigid platform and fence when tightened down. Quickly set using the included standard hex tool, this feature takes an already strong platform into the rigidity level expected in any professional machining environment.

Capitalizing on a great idea, the folks a INCRA® have combined their highly successful Miter3000® with the exclusive AngleLOCK® Indexing System with a sled system for the table saw. The sled with T-track and clamping fixture secures the workpiece as one solid unit for precision cross-cutting at any angle. The right-hand portion of the sled, once cut, secures to the right miter slot of your table saw by means of a miter slider and functions as a zero clearance cut-off table that's perfectly aligned with the main sled. Since this system includes precision angle adjustment, stop positioner and clamping sled for superior workpiece control, all possibility for cutting error has been eliminated and each cut is predictable and precise. Finally, a perfect cross-cutting system for your table saw! Order the replacement Panel for maintaining zero clearance for different blades and compound angle cutting. Incra MITER5000 Miter 5000 Table Saw Miter Gauge with Sled and Telescoping Fence

Costumer Reviews

The Incra Miter 5000 should make any woodworking perfectionist very happy. I'm definitely pleased, and here's why.

I've been tuning up my woodworking skills by making cabinets for my shop, but I couldn't get consistently square crosscuts with my tablesaw's stock miter gauge. The result was gaps in joints, and worse, doors and drawers that didn't fit or slide smoothly.

After considering many DIY sled plans, I decided to spring for the Miter 5000. Not only does it deliver repeatable angle cuts, but the flip-up "shop-stop" makes crosscuts dead-on accurate and repeatable in length, too. This is because the Miter 5000 is literally 'digital' -- the stop adjusts in precise 1/32" steps.

I did have a minor problem. The miter bar T-clip that keeps the bar from popping up when the sled is pulled far back was binding in the slot. I found the sled table was warped about 1/16" and when pressed down, it lifted the miter bar, causing the T-clip to rub. The Incra folks don't do email, but they deliver excellent customer service by good ol' telephone. I had no trouble getting through, and when I explained the problem, they sent a replacement sled panel right away. No hassles. That one was perfectly flat and now the sled works great.

My first project built with the sled was a caddy to store it. You may want one too, because the whole assembly is big -- 36" x 31" -- awkward to store, and you don't want to bang it around. The caddy is like a sawhorse on wheels, with solid sides inclined at 15 deg (hey, that's actually 15.000 degrees, thanks Incra!). Rout grooves in the sides for the miter bars and put cleats near the bottom for the sleds to rest on. It rolls under the saw's right extension table. I left the inside of the caddy open to give me extra storage. It went together like no cabinet I've ever built before despite all the angle work, thanks to the Incra.

Bottom line: A great table saw accessory that increases crosscut/miter angle and length accuracy, and enhances safety too. Excellent support from the company. Do you like producing precision work? Then treat yourself to this!

Are you new to woodworking?

Well, so was I three years ago when I set out to build cabinets, built-in bookcases, custom stairways, fireplace mantels, and workdesks for our home. I started out with nothing more than a sliding miter saw, a circular saw, a jig saw, some drills and sanders. Sure enough I actually built many of the items I listed above. A lot of time and even more glue and screws went into that part of my life.

WHAT I REALLY LEARNED WAS THE IMPORTANCE OF OWNING A GREAT TABLE SAW

So I bit the bullet and purchase a Powermatic 66 5 HP Cabinet Saw after what I read on Amazon reviews, etc.

Well, once you have a great table saw, it's like your dreams came true and you wondered how you did ANYTHING with just some hand tools. BUT, THIS MITER SLED makes the table saw even better than it already it BECAUSE YOU CAN GET SUCH ACCURACY AND SQUARE CUTS! Yep, not having a square cuts can mess up just about anything your working on. Add to that REPEATABLE cuts for your cabinet doors, bookshelves, raised panels, ANYTHING

I hardly ever have to use my tape measure becaue of the simple and elegant scales Incra puts right on their first class miter gauge fences.

NOW HERE'S THE DEAL - YOU MUST SPEND HOURS, YEP A FEW HOURS! JUST ONCE, TO SET THIS UP CORRECTLY. IF YOU DO THIS, THE PERFECT SQUARE CUTS, THE PERFECT LENGTH CUTS(EVERYTIME!) AND PERFECT MITER ANGLES WILL ABSOLUTELY STUN YOU. AND IT'S DONE WITH EASE AND SIMPLICITY.

I just can't say enough about the great instructions and the quality of the components. Mine was dead on square, the fences were made from high grade box aluminum extrusions that don't flex or bend for total accuracy and a "solid feel" to boot.

I know you can build your own for probably less, but there is NO WAY a wood jig can compete with this thing, I just figured that I don't need to reinvent the wheel on something here os I just got the best one I coule find.

AGAIN, if you're not using this type of tool with your tablesaw you just don't know what you're missing. Don't think too long about this one - go get one on sale somewhere, you'll be astonished like I was.

Hope that helps!
